| Articles Preferred article length is between 400-800 words. Please do not exceed 800 words unless given the go-ahead by an editor. Tone of writing is an important factor in editorial decisions - articles must be balanced and factual. The Paper will not accept articles that are overtly derogatory of any person/group, content that inappropriately or forcefully attempts to push an agenda will also not be accepted. Informationsharing should remain the foremost objective. Opinion pieces are welcome but must be clearly flagged as this - not disguised as factual news items. Authors are to provide references, where relevant, for editorial checking of quotes, facts and figures. References are also welcome at the end of articles as an audience resource for follow-up information or action - supply contact details for groups/organisations/individuals where relevant. Articles will be edited for length, defamatory material, accuracy of fact and succinctness. The Paper has a tight turn-around process - if you require to view your article post-editing, please make sure it is submitted on the Friday before deadline at the latest, and that this request is clearly stated (only possible via e-mail). Please note that a non-response will be considered as consent to go ahead with the edited version. Articles to be submitted in twelve-point Times New Roman font, single-spaced with no paragraph breaks. Please do not double space after full stops. Supply preferred introduction and pull-out quotes if desired. If time permits, please submit an article proposal before submission. Editorial commission is not a guarantee of publication - editors remain the right to request a rewrite, or to reject a piece at any stage. Editor's decision is final. If you are preparing to cover an issue at some time in the future - or are working on a long-term investigative piece - please let us know as early as possible so that we can plan for it and offer assistance, contacts and resources. These kinds of projects are encouraged. |
